Poem 3 - Communion at Round Valley UMC
Celebrating the connection of the UMC. This week is Annual Conference both LAUMC and RVUMC should be there. I know LAUMC is, don't really know the status of Round Valley. Communion at Round Valley UMC We had driven too long, too far, too tired, when it started to drizzle. We arrived at the promised campsite and found it, padlocked and posted: “Closed for the Season”. The dilapidated motor court in town beyond repair, beyond comfort, appeared to have been left to the vermin. T


Poem 2 - The Desert
The Desert Empty Overwhelming Nothing And in that nothingness I diminish and expand with each breath. I am swept like a grain of sand on the dry wind, I have nothing to tie me to the parched earth, but then I look beyond and see there is a community of mountains embracing and sheltering in the distance I look out to the rocky pinnacles of the ages reflecting the ephemeral formations of the sky. I look down and discover the treasures at my feet the infinitesimal flecks of yell


1st Poem
This spring (2016) I took a poetry class to add to my set of tools. This is the second version of the first poem we had to do. The photograph is of my grandparents, my cousin Cheri and me on the day of my baptism. My grandparents lived with us starting during my high school years. Grandma's health was deteriorating. My grandfather had dementia, though not of the Alzheimers variety. It’s a Choice My mother taught me we have a choice. And my grandparents, one dying, one confus
